“Somewhere I Belong” (2020–2024)
is a photographic meditation on the rural landscapes of Europe — a poetic and documentary exploration of a shared collective identity and the human desire for belonging and seclusion in times of global uncertainty. This work focuses on the people and places of these lands who engage in a conscious and critical examination of their individual definitions of “home.”
The methodology of this project follows the spirit of “Wanderlust,” characterized by fragility and intimacy, painting a sensitive portrait of the Central European continent. On my journeys—whether on foot, by bicycle, or by car—isolated individual perspectives are brought together into a collective photo-documentary discourse, reinterpreting and challenging the conventional understanding of individuality.
Photography serves as the medium that maintains a balance between documentary clarity and poetic openness. Landscapes and portraits, color and black-and-white photographs, merge into a narrative that is introspective and yet universal.
